How Bug & Bean Got Started
Bug and Bean Freshies was born in May 2023 out of necessity and a bit of creative determination. As boutique owners, we loved offering freshies, but finding a supplier who could meet our specific needs proved challenging. Limited scent options, uninspired designs, and leftover inventory that wouldn’t sell became a constant frustration. Instead of settling, we decided to take matters into our own hands and try making freshies ourselves. How hard could it be, right?
Well, our first attempts were less than perfect and included a burnt plastic smell and some very questionable shapes. But we didn’t give up. Through persistence and trial and error, we refined our process and ingredients until we had something we were truly proud of.
Our customers loved what we created, and soon, word spread. Other shops began reaching out, asking if they could offer our freshies too. That’s when we had our lightbulb moment. With over 6 years of experience in the boutique and live sales world, we realized we had the know-how to make freshies that truly stood out. Taking a leap of faith, we transitioned to a full-fledged B2B freshie supplier.
Bug & Bean Today
It wasn’t easy, and we faced plenty of unknowns, but the risk has definitely paid off. Today, Bug and Bean Freshies partners with dozens of boutiques and small businesses across the country. We’ve sold thousands of freshies and continue to share our passion with others, one scent and design at a time.
A huge milestone for us came last July when we moved from Lori’s house, where it all began in her kitchen and spare room, into a full warehouse with six amazing employees. It’s been amazing watching our little idea grow into something bigger!
Oh, and the name Bug and Bean? It’s inspired by our two beloved family dachshunds, Lily Bug (8) and Lola Bean (13). They’re the heart and soul behind it all.
